My Testimony

As I was subjected to watching 6 hours of televangelism while caring for a resident at work today, I began to reflect on my own testimony.

  1. Trevor, Thanks for sharing your testimony of the Church. Your comment that just because you are gay doesn't mean you have to feel ill toward the Church aligns with my recent post about "Throwing the baby out with the bath water." I admire your resilient faith. Faith is a constant struggle for me. My faith is very simple and based on the fundamental truths of the gospel. Sometimes I let Church culture and the gospel get intertwined in my mind and I go nuts. I have to keep returning to my Savior and his gospel. When I remain grounded in Him, the foibles of men don't distract from my desire to worship and follow Christ.

  2. This past Sunday (and due to other reason outside of being gay) I had an anxiety attack and had to leave church early. I went and spoke to a dear friend who is also a gay mormon. Eventually I explained how I just don't know how to balance the two worlds, "church" and "gay," and how it's seriously sucking me dry. He listened and offered a few words of his own. My response after was that I was done and it's time I stop going for a while. However I deep down inside know that would be a mistake, which he also agreed upon for myself.

I guess what I'm trying to say is:
This post was most appreciated and I too as the previous commentor admire your "resilient faith." Thanks for sharing your testimony it is once again MOST APPRECIATED. :)

  3. Thank you, Trevor, for sharing your testimony. Those are exactly my thoughts on the matter too, except that I had no idea how to put those ideas into words. You did so gracefully. Thanks!
