After much thought

I have been thinking about this for quite some time now.

I am taking an LONG break from blogging, and I may not return.

When your original intentions for doing something are no longer your current intentions, there is a problem.

I started blogging to clear my mind, and to archive my journey of accepting myself and my situation of being a young, LDS, male who likes men.

These original intentions are no longer my current intentions.

I am going to take a long break from blogging, and rethink this whole blog. Some different ideas I'm having now are making my blog private only to myself, or quitting it all together.

I know some have their own private blog and their public one, but my reasons for having a public blog are not genuine and are unhealthy for me.

I am more concerned about how many views and followers I get than the content of what I am writing. I have started to write for others, instead of writing for myself. Blogging has become a burden and a pain for me, instead of a release and pleasure like it use to be.

I have made some very good friends through this blog, some I have met and some I have yet to meet. I am grateful I have gotten to know those of you. There are some of you I want to get to know more, and I plan on still keeping up with your blogs.

I will keep this blog up, so anyone can get in touch with me if they need to, but until further notice I will not be blogging.

Farewell.

  1. I have been following your blog for a while now, and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know more and more about you through this.

I wish there was some way for you to know how much or how many people have benefited from your blog and your insights. If there were a way to accurately do so, I would be all over it so you could see the good you have done.

I am sad to hear that you are no longer benefiting from your blog. I hope that you will be able to take some time off, reevaluate your priorities, and then (hopefully) come back with a renewed sense of direction and purpose.

No matter what decision you come to, I wish you nothing but the best as your journey continues.

    Take care...

  5. Quinn, my friend, yours was one of first I found. Thanks.

I'm not sad for you in any way. In fact, I'm happy your life is turning another page. If your road should lead back here, of course I'd be happy, but I'm equally happy if you have gotten what you needed from blogging and feel like it is the right decision to move on.

I think I, too, will come to that point, eventually, where blogging no longer wields the mystique and freedom that it once did. But even if my blog fades into nothingness, I still think that the friends and mentors I met will remain an important part of how I grew and developed during this period.

As for you, rest assured that you have done good through your blog. You will be missed. But I'm happy just knowing you're doing what's right for you.

  6. There is a time and a season for everything. Perhaps your blogging season has come to an end.

I can certainly understand your feeling. I've considered quitting blogging a number of times. I hope you still check in on us from time to time.
