What is it With Long Distance Relationship?

There is something about a long distance relationship that draws me to them.

Here are a few reasons why I think I like the LDR's so much.

1- There is a slim chance for sex, which in turn leads to church discipline.

2- I don't have someone nagging me because I want some space.

3- The allure of a bit of mystery.

4- They will never get to know the real me (because if they did, there would be no relationship).

5- It's easier to back out of it if one of us decides to.

6- Cause I'm a wimp.

7- Because, as much as I want a relationship, I'm to scared to have one.

  1. I disagree with you- if they knew you, there would still be a relationship. YOU are WORTH knowing, mate! :)

(Speaking of "mate", do you know why it is dangerous to play chess in Australia or England? Because they are always saying, "check, mate". :))

  2. I've done the same with girls, simply because I knew it would never really go anywhere.

  3. Careful - long distance relationships have a way of turning into short distance intimate relationships.

  4. I think your last point is the most telling. It's amazing how we let fear, which is of the devil, take control of our actions. At church we've just completed a sermon series about how faith is really the opposite of fear and how if we have faith fear is conquered.

  5. I don't know you, but I feel like I need to call you a dork. LOL! And I say that with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek. LOL!

  6. Like ElGenio, I've done LDRs with girls before. But like Abelard said, LDRs seem to make their way into short-distance relationships. When things get sticky, I try to pull out, but it's too late. All I ended up with is a guilty conscience and broken hearts.

Not that I'm trying to scare you or anything. It sounds like you have a special long-distance someone you haven't told us about...? :)
